Hello Darling! You are welcome to my kitchen segment. I am Lizzy. This is a segment in which I bring to your reading pleasure, meal menus and directions for preparing them. Today, I would be teaching you how to prepare pepper soup. Pepper soup could be made from chicken, fish or chicken.
Now, let’s go to the market to get some stuffs. For me, I would prefer Bodija Market in Ibadan. But hmmm…wait! where is my umbrella? I gat to take it along cos its so so sunny and I don’t have a car yet, abi! *lolz*
I am crossing the road now clutching in my fist, my purse. Yes I remember…the market list. Opening the purse, I have my list card. On my list, I have the following:
- 1kg Goat meat, Chicken or Fish (Fresh ones, please!)
- 2 Maggi Cubes (I prefer Knorr Chicken)
- 1 Onion bulb
- Chilli Pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon of Ground Ehuru seeds
- Salt to taste
- Scent Leaf, mint leaf (The Yorubas call it Efirin)
- Traditional aromatic pepper soup spices (optional)
- 1 tablespoonful of ground crayfish
- chopped basil leaves
Price them well o but don’t be insulting at all o…
Its time to go home!…hmmm…this traffic sha!
Oh my kitchen, I am back!….Now, lets start!
Cut the meat or fish into smaller pieces. Lets season the meat, fish, chicken properly with the ingredients first. You know the ingredients to use right?…Onion, salt, maggi and others as you wish.
Then, add about 5cups of water. Cook till the meat is soft. *sniffs* sumptuous!
Add the pepper soup spices (if necessary) and the ground crayfish, pepper and chopped basil leaves.
Add the scent leaf
Add salt to taste
Now, lets cover the pot. It’s simmering shae? Leave it
Quickly wash the pots, plates and keep the sink clean. Good girl/guy!
Open the pot. Be careful o, its hot!
scoop inside a small soup dish.
How far?…Its delicious
Its not more than that o.
We can accompany pepper soup with white rice, boiled yam or boiled plantain when taken as a meal!
