POLYGAMY IS BETTER THAN ADULTERY?

These past few days, the social media (Nigerian) have been agog with news of the ‘Biblical validation’ of polygamy. This came about as a ‘pastor’ rose up in a bid to support the extra-marital scandal of a Nigerian public figure who is loved by many. This ‘pastor’ quoted a number of Scriptures and concluded with the fact that polygamy is better than adultery. Oh, what heresy! He even dared anyone to come forward with Bible verses that teach against polygamy, citing David and other Biblical references as models. Ayayayaya.

 

Then, some Christians started to agree with him! Many people said their eyes were opened by the ‘revelation’ and so much confusion is being pumped out right now! This is why I am coming out to drop my own cent!

 

Fam, not everyone who calls himself/herself a pastor is truly one! Let this sink! Don’t be carried away with big grammar, charisma, ability to quote Scriptures, and even SIGNS AND WONDERS! Matthew 7:22 says ‘MANY will say unto Me in that day ‘Lord Lord, have we not PROPHESIED in your Name, CAST OUT DEMONS in your name and done MANY WONDERS in your name?

 

The Lord said ‘And then, I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, ye that work iniquity!’ Oh, my my my!

 

You want to know one quick sign to recognize false ‘men and women of God’? Matthew 7:15-16 holds the answer. BY THEIR FRUIT! THEIR INIQUITIES! THEIR TWISTING OF THE SCRIPTURES TO PROTECT SIN! Oh, gracious me!

 

Well, I am not surprised. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 that ‘For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after THEIR OWN LUSTS shall they heap to themselves TEACHERS, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned to FABLES’

 

Isn’t this the case today?

 

Dear singles, this is to show you therefore that not all the ‘Alpha Males and Females’ you see in the church are potential spouses! Some are little devils, some are presently swallowing the devil’s lies, and some are already grounded in some terrible doctrines that will make your life miserable as you get married to them. Sit down, know the Bible for yourself (Acts 17:11), and pray passionately because I tell you, God still leads in marriage! He will shield you from these ‘falsehoods’ if you can only trust Him!

 

Now to the matter on the ground. I am so glad to announce, standing on the Word of God that cannot fail, change or evolve that POLYGAMY, POLYANDRY, ADULTERY, HOMOSEXUALITY, and all these ODD SEXUAL PRACTICES AND RELATIONSHIPS are from the pit of Hell! They are sins!

 

Some say ‘David was a man after God’s heart and he married many women…yen yen yen’ Oh, c’mon, stop looking at Abraham, David, Paul, and other Biblical figures for your perfection! They were imperfect men as we are! But we are better off because we have the Holy Spirit! And He comes into our lives to help us walk in perfection as Christ expects of us! (Matt 5:48, Phill 3:12, 15) Jesus has come to shed His Blood for us. His pure, sinless Blood! And because of this, more is expected of us! The Bible says ‘…Looking unto JESUS, the author and the finisher of our faith!…’ and in 1Pt 2:21, it also says about Christ that He has left us an example and that WE SHOULD FOLLOW HIS STEPS! Follow Christ’s steps!

 

So, what did Christ say about Marriage so we can follow after His steps? Let’s see:

1. Matthew 19:5 says ‘Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them MALE and FEMALE, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain (TWO) shall be one flesh?’

 

Male and female is the initial plan, not Males And Female or Male And Females or Female and Female or Male and male or Human and animal!

 

The man and the woman shall become one! That is the initial plan! That is the real maths! Why would you look at David and Abraham? What lesson can you bring out of their marital decisions that you want to follow their steps? Why would you look at failed marriages and decide ‘That is exactly what I want, at least God had mercy on them!’ Oh oh!

 

The scriptures show us through the stories of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar and Jacob, Leah, and Rachel, that there is often rivalry, bitterness, and jealousy in having multiple spouses. This is because the covenant union created by marriage is meant to only be between one man and one woman! That is the Scriptures, children of God! Why must you point out the mistakes of Biblical heroes and try to emulate them, going against God’s instructions? Why? Is that wisdom? Pitfalls are pointed at us so that we might avoid them but your lustful souls wouldn’t just let you be great!

 

2. So, from the above verse, we can see that not only does Jesus affirm a covenant marriage between just one man and one woman but He also affirms that married couples should not separate from one another for any reason to FIND ANOTHER SPOUSE! What God has joined together, nothing, not even adultery or the thought of it, talk less of a second wife or husband should come between!

 

Matthew 5:27-28 says ‘Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart’

 

You are married to a person and you are already looking at someone else when your heart is supposed to dwell with and only with the wife/husband of your youth? C’mon! You have erred just by thinking about it! Then you both moving into each other desecrates your oneness to your spouse. It separates your oneness!  Talk less of you deciding to get married to such! You have an abnormal equation there that you should never bring the Lord into!

 

Rather than looking at another person outside your marriage, the Bible says you should remove those eyes! Refrain them! Have self control! Be bound to the WIFE not WIVES of your youth! Stop allowing your lustful desires to control your life!

 

Let me round this off with Mark 10:29-30.

 

29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath left HOUSE, or BRETHREN, or SISTERS, or FATHER, or MOTHER, or WIFE, or CHILDREN, or LANDS, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, HOUSES, and BRETHREN, and SISTERS, and MOTHERS, and CHILDREN, and LANDS, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

 

Did you read those verses well? If you can surrender everything you have to God, for His glory, for His gospel, for His Name, you will get EVERYTHING back in a hundredfold- well except WIFE! Because one is enough for you! You are not getting that back in a hundredfold. (PS: Father is also missing but Luke 18:29-30 show that mothers already stand in for parents.)

 

The Christian marriage is under attack! Satan hates people bearing the image of God and pointing to Jesus Christ and because marriage is a picture of Christ and the Church as His Bride, Satan wants to keep us and the world from seeing the beauty God has created in a covenant marriage relationship between one man and one woman!

 

Dear Christians, stop allowing unbelieving ‘Christians’ to dictate how marriage should be! They are not even saved but they are the models for your marriage because they announce they’ve been together for 40 years? Oh, congratulations to them! God created marriage and only Him has the perfect blueprint for it!

 

Take me back to the Bible! Take me to Jesus! What is God’s description for a marriage that lasts? Seek answers from him alone! Look unto Jesus, fam! Walk in His steps alone! More heresies are going to come because the time is here! So, stay alert! Gird yourself about with the BELT OF TRUTH!

 

He that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved!
